Finding a specific used vehicle from home
Porsche Cars North America launched Porsche Finder on May 14, 2020 for used and certified pre-owned vehicles in its US dealer network. The company described a search experience connecting customers with its then 192 US dealerships. Porsche Digital worked with the North American business on the platform.
The original filters covered model, generation, equipment, packages and color choices, including roof colors for convertibles. Shoppers could also explore dealer inventory without a ZIP code. Porsche said the website was adapted for phones and tablets, framing the launch as a way to make detailed vehicle discovery easier from home.
New-car inventory came later
In August 2021, Porsche announced an expansion that included new-vehicle inventory across its then 193 US dealerships. That later release described payment estimates, an online credit application and integrated Kelley Blue Book trade-in value ranges.
Those additions should not be read back into the initial used-car launch as if every part arrived together. The company described starting the purchase process online and preparing more paperwork from home, with dealers remaining part of the transaction. It was not a claim that every sale had become a fully self-service checkout.
Search quality depends on the details
Analysis: a specialist inventory tool becomes useful when it reflects the distinctions its buyers actually care about. A customer seeking a particular generation, body configuration or equipment combination needs more than a broad model-name search.
The next question is whether those filters match the individual vehicle record. A shortlist is only a starting point: photographs, equipment details, condition and the dealer's confirmation still matter when evaluating a used car.
These two announcements show the sequence from inventory discovery toward purchase preparation. They do not establish today's stock or financing terms. A buyer acting now should confirm the specific vehicle and current transaction details rather than rely on an archived launch promotion.
