A social resale platform joined eBay

eBay agreed in 2025 to buy Tise, an Oslo-based consumer-to-consumer marketplace focused on second-hand fashion and lifestyle goods. The company positioned Tise's community features as a way to strengthen its resale offering and connect with younger shoppers.

The acquisition announcement described following sellers and interacting with listings through likes and comments, alongside personalized recommendations. It followed an investment by eBay Ventures in 2022. eBay did not disclose further transaction details in that announcement, so it does not establish a purchase price.

The agreement was followed by a completed deal

At the announcement stage, closing remained subject to customary conditions and was expected before the end of 2025. A later eBay investor release provides the completed timeline: an operating-data footnote states that the company acquired Tise on October 1, 2025.

That later disclosure matters when reading the original news. A definitive agreement records a commitment to a transaction; the closing records its completion. It would be misleading to present the old acquisition announcement as a new deal still awaiting an unspecified future closing.

Community features are not just another inventory feed

Analysis: a resale marketplace can help someone search for an item, but it can also help them discover sellers whose taste they want to follow. Those are related but different experiences. Social interactions may create reasons to return before a shopper has a precise product in mind.

For an acquirer, preserving that experience can be as important as making more listings available. The questions include how seller identity, recommendations and existing community habits translate into the larger marketplace relationship.

The transaction's completion does not answer those integration questions. eBay's announcements establish its rationale and the acquisition timeline, not measured improvements in trust, sales or retention attributable to the combination. Those outcomes need separate evidence after the deal.
